SFL announces acquisition of three new vessels with long‑term charters

SFL Corporation Ltd. agreed to acquire two 8,800‑TEU container ships and one 93,000‑cbm dual‑fuel ammonia carrier scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028. The vessels are under minimum 8‑year and 5‑year time charters respectively, with options to extend and purchase. CEO Ole B. Hjertaker said the deals add significant fixed‑rate charter backlog to the company’s portfolio.

The charters will add a minimum of $333 million to SFL’s fixed‑rate charter backlog, improving revenue visibility. The cash outlay for the vessels will increase the company’s capital commitments, affecting its balance sheet and cash flow.
