Summit Therapeutics reports Phase III biliary‑cancer trial shows overall‑survival superiority

Summit Therapeutics announced that its antibody ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy improved overall survival versus durvalumab plus chemotherapy in a Chinese Phase III study of advanced biliary tract cancer. The trial enrolled 682 patients and yielded a hazard ratio of 0.75 (95 % CI 0.61‑0.92) with a one‑sided p‑value of 0.0031. Median overall survival was 14.9 months for ivonescimab versus 12.1 months for the comparator, a 25 % reduction in risk of death. The company also disclosed a separate U.S. Phase 2/3 trial to start in Q4 2026 and reported $690.7 million in cash as of June 30.

The survival win could enhance Summit’s valuation by supporting future regulatory filings and expanding its pipeline, while the strong cash balance provides runway for the upcoming U.S. trial.
