SEC approves CBOE’s KPI‑linked binary options partnership with Robinhood

On October 14, 2026 the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission granted Cboe Global Markets permission to list binary contracts tied to key performance indicators of selected public companies. Cboe will launch the products together with retail broker Robinhood, which will be the first platform to offer them. The approval covers contracts on 23 U.S. issuers, including Apple, Alphabet, JPMorgan Chase, Robinhood and Nvidia.

The new contracts expand Cboe’s prediction‑market product suite and give Robinhood a differentiated retail offering, potentially boosting trading volumes for both firms. The SEC’s order also clarifies that similar KPI‑based products could fall under CFTC jurisdiction, signalling regulatory boundaries for future derivatives.
