Honda taps Tata Technologies to reshape India vehicle development

Honda Motor is working with Tata Technologies to develop vehicles for India as it seeks cheaper and faster product development, according to people familiar with the arrangement. Honda said it is revising its Indian lineup around value and plans offerings in sub-4-metre and midsize segments from 2028 onward. The first jointly developed model is expected to be a small SUV for launch in 2028, sources said.

If the reported targets are achieved, the arrangement could reduce Honda's development expense and shorten its response time in India. Honda is trying to rebuild its position after its Indian market share fell and its local model range narrowed.
