P&G posts strong fiscal Q1 organic growth but faces higher costs

On October 22, 2026, Procter & Gamble reported Q1 FY2027 organic sales growth of 4.0%, with organic volume up 2.4%; core EPS was $2.00, while currency-neutral core EPS was flat. P&G retained fiscal 2027 guidance for organic sales growth of 1-3% and core EPS growth of 0-3%, equivalent to $6.89-$7.11 per share. Core gross margin fell 150 basis points and core operating margin declined 80 basis points as productivity savings were outweighed by commodity, energy, freight and demand-creation costs.

The quarter began above P&G's full-year organic-sales range, but the unchanged outlook incorporates a $1.4 billion after-tax cost headwind and lower core margins. The company also plans to return $15 billion through dividends and share repurchases during fiscal 2027.

  • 4The combined after-tax impact from input costs, foreign exchange and below-the-line items was $1.9 billion, or $0.79 per share, compared with the previously guided $0.56 per share impact.
  • 5Organic sales increased 8% in Greater China, 4% in Europe and 3% in North America.
  • The materials conflict on year-over-year core EPS growth: one account reports a 1% increase, while another reports a 1-point decline; the reported core EPS amount is $2.00.
  • Only one material states a fiscal 2027 net-sales growth range of 1% to 3%; the other materials specify the organic-sales range but do not provide a net-sales range.
