Dropbox to acquire Tigris Data for $350 million and launch DBX Agent Cloud

Dropbox announced it will buy Tigris Data Inc. for about $350 million in cash, with the transaction expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. At the same time the company introduced DBX Agent Cloud, an AI‑focused storage service that offers S3‑compatible object storage. The new AI features have already been rolled out to more than 70,000 teams, with broader availability slated for 2027.

The acquisition expands Dropbox’s addressable market into AI infrastructure services, potentially adding a new revenue stream beyond its core collaboration tools. The launch of DBX Agent Cloud gives the company a product that can be sold independently to enterprises building AI applications.
