HDFC Bank deposits outpace advances in September-quarter update

HDFC Bank reported that total deposits reached ₹33,275 billion as of September 30, 2026, increasing 18.8% year on year. Gross advances were ₹32,195 billion, up 16.3% from a year earlier. The lender also mobilized USD 11.5 billion of foreign-currency deposits through the Reserve Bank of India’s FCNR(B) swap facility.

Material 5 says the gap between faster time-deposit growth and slower CASA growth keeps funding costs and net interest margins in focus. The update gives investors a view of balance-sheet growth before the bank’s formal quarterly results.

  • 1Average advances under management were ₹31,872 billion for the September 2026 quarter, a 14.0% increase from a year earlier.
  • 2Average deposits were ₹31,665 billion, up 16.8% year on year.
  • 3The foreign-currency deposits supported USD 5.7 billion in loans by the bank’s overseas branches.
  • 4The business-update figures are provisional and subject to a limited review by the bank’s statutory auditors.
  • 5The bank issued USD 2.5 billion of US dollar-denominated senior unsecured bonds during June-August 2026.
  • Material 10 calls the update Q3 2026, while the other materials describe it as Q2 FY27 or the September quarter.
