Johnson & Johnson reports Phase 3 trial meets primary endpoint for oral psoriatic arthritis therapy

Johnson & Johnson announced that its once‑daily oral peptide ICOTYDE (icotrokinra) achieved the primary endpoint in a Phase 3 study of biologic‑naïve adults with active psoriatic arthritis. At Week 16, 58% of patients on ICOTYDE reached an ACR20 response versus 41% on placebo, with higher ACR50 and ACR70 response rates as well as skin improvements. The safety profile through Week 24 showed no new signals. The data were presented as a late‑breaking poster at the American College of Rheumatology Convergence 2026.

The company says the results could support a regulatory filing to expand ICOTYDE’s indication to psoriatic arthritis and generate peak sales of more than $5 billion. Positive trial data may also lift investor sentiment toward JNJ.

  • 158% of ICOTYDE‑treated patients achieved an ACR20 response at Week 16, compared with 41% on placebo.
  • 2ACR50 response rates were 29% for ICOTYDE and 16% for placebo at Week 16.
  • 3ACR70 response rates were 13% for ICOTYDE and 5% for placebo at Week 16.
  • 4Among patients with qualifying skin involvement, 57% on ICOTYDE achieved clear or almost clear skin (IGA 0/1) versus 14% on placebo.
  • 537% of ICOTYDE patients achieved a PASI90 response versus 6% on placebo.
  • 6The trial enrolled 552 participants across two dose groups and a placebo group.
