Alcon purchases Neurotech and its FDA‑approved MacTel therapy for $550 million

Alcon announced the acquisition of Neurotech Pharmaceuticals for $550 million, adding the ENCELTO cell‑therapy that the FDA approved for adult Macular Telangiectasia Type 2. The deal expands Alcon’s offerings in surgical retina and is projected to slightly reduce core diluted EPS in 2027 before becoming earnings‑positive. CEO David Endicott said the combination will speed commercialization and broaden patient access.

The company says the purchase will modestly boost its net sales growth starting in 2027, while initially diluting core EPS and later contributing positively to earnings, which could affect analyst forecasts and investor expectations.
