TransAlta posts strong Q3 results, completes $1 bn Colorado gas deal and sells Oklahoma wind stake

TransAlta reported third‑quarter 2026 adjusted EBITDA of $264 million, up from $238 million a year earlier, and revenue of $536 million. In October the company closed a C$1 billion acquisition of two Colorado gas‑fired peaking facilities and sold a 49 % interest in its 500‑MW Oklahoma wind portfolio for C$305 million. It also announced the mothballing of its Battle River units and an extension of the Sundance 6 outage while advancing its Boreal data‑center project.

The results beat analyst expectations and the company reaffirmed its FY2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance of C$950 million‑C$1.05 billion. Management said the Colorado acquisition will generate about C$110 million of low‑risk adjusted EBITDA annually, bolstering cash flow, while the wind‑portfolio sale strengthens the balance sheet.
