Ocugen grants OCU400 MENA rights in gene therapy licensing deal

On October 14, 2026, Ocugen granted Roots Pharmaceutical and Al-Dhow International Holding sole rights to commercialize its investigational OCU400 retinitis pigmentosa therapy in the Middle East and North Africa. The arrangement provides for initial payments of up to $4 million, sales-based milestones of up to $255 million and royalties of 22% on net sales, while Ocugen will make and deliver the therapy. Ocugen expects topline results from the Phase 3 liMeliGhT study in the first quarter of 2027.

The agreement gives Ocugen a regional commercialization partner and a potential stream of milestone and royalty income, subject to regulatory approval and product uptake. Ocugen retains responsibility for manufacturing and supply, while Roots provides the regional commercial infrastructure.
