NanoViricides says Ebola oral-drug trial is enrolling and progressing

NanoViricides said on October 13, 2026 that its Phase IIA trial of NV-387 oral gummies is enrolling patients with different severity levels of Bundibugyo Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The study is evaluating safety and tolerability, with dosing beginning at 6 days and increasing in 3-day increments to a maximum of 12 days. The exploratory study can include up to 20 subjects, while any efficacy signal is secondary to the safety assessment.

The company expects the study to determine whether NV-387 is sufficiently safe and tolerated to proceed to Phase IIB. Any transition would provide a next-stage development path for NanoViricides' Ebola treatment candidate, although the current trial is not designed to establish statistically significant efficacy.

  • 1The Phase IIA study is enrolling patients in the dry and wet stages of Bundibugyo Ebola infection and disease.
  • 2The trial uses dosing that starts at 6 days, rises in 3 day increments, and reaches a maximum of 12 days of treatment.
  • 3The exploratory study may enroll up to 20 subjects.
  • 4The World Health Organization figures cited by NanoViricides show 9,000 confirmed cases and 4,339 deaths in the outbreak as of October 10, 2026.
