Grindr to acquire PurposeMed, parent of telehealth firm Freddie, for $250 million

Grindr announced a deal to buy PurposeMed, the owner of HIV‑prevention telehealth provider Freddie, for a total purchase price of $250 million. The consideration includes $190 million in cash, $60 million in Grindr common stock and up to $70 million in performance‑based earn‑out cash tied to 2027 results. The transaction, Grindr’s first major acquisition since its founding, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will be integrated with Grindr’s existing Woodwork health service to form a new “Grindr Health” division.

The company says the acquisition will be immediately accretive to EBITDA dollars, though initial infrastructure spending may compress margins. Analysts note the deal diversifies Grindr’s revenue beyond subscriptions and ads, potentially adding a high‑margin recurring‑care business.
