Fifth Third reports mixed third-quarter results as Comerica integration advances

Fifth Third Bancorp reported third-quarter 2026 net income available to common shareholders of $828 million and reported EPS of $0.90 on October 19. Adjusted EPS was $1.13 against a $0.83 consensus estimate, while net interest income reached $2.28 billion on a fully taxable-equivalent basis. The bank said it completed Comerica’s systems conversion during the quarter and maintained stable credit performance.

The results give investors a strong adjusted earnings comparison but a lower reported EPS figure, with Comerica now contributing materially to the combined company’s results. Fifth Third said the integration progressed with client and banker retention, while the quarter’s reported capital and credit metrics show the financial position being managed during the combination.
