AstraZeneca lung cancer combination cuts death risk in Phase III trial

AstraZeneca reported Phase III DeLLphi-305 results for IMFINZI plus tarlatamab-dlle in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer at the ESMO Congress 2026. Median overall survival was 21.1 months with the combination versus 12.7 months with IMFINZI alone, while the combination reduced the risk of death by 58% and disease progression or death by 66%. AstraZeneca said the findings reinforce IMFINZI's role as a backbone immunotherapy in small cell lung cancer.

The results provide AstraZeneca with clinical evidence supporting further use of IMFINZI with tarlatamab-dlle in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer. AstraZeneca said the findings could redefine treatment standards, which may expand the commercial opportunity for its oncology portfolio if the data support regulatory or clinical adoption.
