CME to launch regulated Uniswap futures on October 19

CME Group announced that it will list futures contracts on Uniswap (UNI) on Monday, October 19. The exchange will offer a standard contract of 10,000 UNI and a micro contract of 1,000 UNI, both settled in cash on the CME Globex platform. The launch is pending regulatory review and is aimed at institutional investors such as funds and trading houses. Uniswap’s spot price was around $7.49 on October 16 and fell to about $7.33 on October 17, while its total value locked slipped from $4.03 billion to $3.91 billion.

The CME listing gives institutional players a regulated way to gain exposure to UNI, which could increase hedging and arbitrage activity and influence the token’s spot price (the company notes the potential impact on spot through hedging and arbitrage).
