Lockheed Martin to invest $300 million in Texas plant, add 6,000 jobs and new machining capacity

Lockheed Martin announced a $300 million expansion of its Grand Prairie, Texas facility that will create 6,000 jobs nationwide, including 2,000 in Texas. The project adds 100,000 sq ft of new space and a 24‑machine automated machining cell from partner Hadrian, slated to start operating in early 2027. The upgrade supports missile programs such as PAC‑3 MSE, THAAD, PrSM and JATM and is part of an $8‑9 billion investment plan through 2030.

The expansion increases domestic munitions production capacity, which should raise demand for Lockheed Martin’s defense suppliers and could improve the company’s ability to meet warfighter needs on faster timelines. The large job creation may also bolster the local labor market and strengthen the industrial base, a point highlighted by the Under Secretary of War.
