Transocean adds $1.1 bn Norway backlog, secures Brazil antitrust OK for Valaris deal and extends credit line

On October 19 2026 Transocean Ltd (RIG) announced a firm backlog increase of about $1.1 bn from new contracts with Shell and Equinor in Norway and received unconditional Brazilian antitrust approval for its pending Valaris acquisition, which is slated to close in Q4 2026. The company also extended its revolving credit facility to 2031, raising commitments to $750 m, and reported quarterly revenue of $966 m with net income of $170 m. Two days later the firm disclosed an additional $550 m of U.S. Gulf contracts, bringing total new backlog to roughly $1.6 bn.

The backlog boost improves earnings visibility into 2027, while the antitrust clearance removes a regulatory hurdle for the Valaris merger, potentially adding scale and synergies. The larger credit facility and note redemption lower financing risk and give the company more runway to integrate the acquisition.
