Nebius secures $3.5 billion Citi loan amid tightening neocloud debt markets

Nebius Group CEO Arkady Volozh said that while some capital sources have temporarily dried up, the company’s balance sheet remains healthy and it has enough financing to build at least one gigawatt of capacity. The firm obtained a $3.5 billion loan from Citigroup to support data‑center growth and GPU purchases. Volozh made the remarks on a podcast recorded at Nvidia’s GTC conference in Berlin. The comments came as Elon Musk warned that debt markets are largely closed for neocloud providers.

The new financing gives Nebius runway to continue expanding its AI‑infrastructure business despite a broader credit squeeze, which may limit share‑price volatility for investors. The loan’s maturity in October next year means the company will need to refinance or generate cash flow by then, creating a near‑term financing risk.
