Gold Fields obtains Quebec environmental authorization for Windfall gold project

Gold Fields and its subsidiary Windfall Mining Group received a certificate of authorization from Quebec’s Ministry of the Environment, allowing construction of the Windfall gold project to start. The approval follows the June 2026 Uukiimau Impact and Benefit Agreement with the Cree First Nation of Waswanipi. CEO Mike Fraser said the permit removes a key development risk and the company will target a final investment decision by February 2027.

The authorization clears a major regulatory hurdle, enabling Gold Fields to move toward construction and to issue updated capital and schedule estimates by February 2027. Investors should watch for the forthcoming final investment decision, which will determine when the project can begin generating cash flow.
