CAMP4 Therapeutics secures EU clearance to start Phase 1/2 ASCEND trial of CMP-002 for SYNGAP1 disorder

CAMP4 Therapeutics announced that regulators and ethics boards in several European Union member states have granted permission to launch its global Phase 1/2 ASCEND study of the antisense oligonucleotide CMP-002. The trial targets patients with SYNGAP1‑related disorder, a rare genetic condition with no disease‑modifying therapies. The company expects to dose the first participant in the fourth quarter of 2026. CEO Josh Mandel‑Brehm highlighted that the EU approval expands the trial’s geographic footprint following earlier clearances in the United Kingdom, Australia and Argentina.

The EU clearance enables CAMP4 to enroll European patients, potentially accelerating enrollment and data collection for its first‑in‑human study. Earlier dosing could allow the company to reach pivotal trial milestones sooner, which may affect its cash‑flow needs and valuation.
