Packaging Corporation of America posts higher Q3 profit and guides Q4 earnings

Packaging Corporation of America said third-quarter 2026 net income reached $262.3M, or $2.93 per share, while adjusted earnings were $3.04 per share. Net sales rose to $2.6017B from $2.3134B in the year-earlier quarter. The company forecast fourth-quarter earnings of $2.81 per share excluding special items, citing higher pricing alongside increased freight, materials and maintenance costs.

The results provide a stronger adjusted earnings base, but PCA's fourth-quarter outlook points to substantial cost and outage pressure. The company expects pricing and seasonal demand improvements to partly offset those costs.
