Krystal Biotech reports KB113 lesion regression in Gorlin syndrome study

Krystal Biotech reported preliminary results from a three-patient Gorlin syndrome pilot study of investigational immunotherapy KB113. The company said 69 of 83 assessed basal cell carcinoma lesions showed clinical regression, or approximately 83%, after the final evaluation. Biopsies from three selected lesions confirmed complete histological responses, and Krystal Biotech has started discussions with the FDA on further development.

The findings give Krystal Biotech a basis for discussions with the FDA about advancing KB113. The small, preliminary study does not establish the treatment’s broader efficacy, durability, or safety, so larger studies will be needed.

  • 1The pilot study enrolled three adult patients with Gorlin syndrome.
  • 2At the final assessment, 69 of 83 assessed lesions showed some degree of clinical regression.
  • 3A total of 42 lesions showed regression greater than 50%.
  • 4Eight lesions achieved regression of at least 90%.
  • 5Biopsies of three selected treated lesions confirmed complete histological responses.
  • 6Krystal Biotech initiated discussions with the US Food and Drug Administration about further KB113 development.
