UDR and Apollo to launch a joint venture covering 19 apartment communities

UDR Inc. will partner with Apollo Global Management in a joint venture that includes 19 multifamily properties. Apollo will contribute $1.34 billion for a two‑thirds ownership stake, while UDR will retain the remaining one‑third and continue to manage the assets. The transaction is slated to be completed by October 29, 2026, after the required documentation and standard closing conditions are satisfied.

UDR’s CFO said the capital infusion will be used to lower debt and fund higher‑growth assets, which should strengthen the REIT’s balance sheet. Apollo’s investment expands its exposure to the U.S. multifamily market, and both companies’ shares moved higher in pre‑market trading after the announcement.
