Vistra posts record Q3 profit, raises 2026 outlook and launches 2027 guidance

Vistra Corp. reported third‑quarter 2026 net income of $1.14 billion and Ongoing Operations Adjusted EBITDA of $2.378 billion, up more than 50% year over year. The company lifted its 2026 EBITDA outlook to $7.1‑$7.5 billion and introduced a 2027 EBITDA range of $7.7‑$8.5 billion. Its board authorized an additional $1.5 billion share repurchase program and completed the Cogentrix Energy acquisition, adding roughly 5,500 MW of natural‑gas generation capacity.

The higher EBITDA guidance expands Vistra's projected earnings for the next two years, which analysts note could support the stock price (BMO Capital Markets kept an Outperform rating despite lowering its price target) and the new buyback authorisation may provide further upside for shareholders.
