Smurfit Westrock posts Q3 loss, cuts FY 2026 adjusted EBITDA forecast

Smurfit Westrock reported third‑quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $0.45 per share and net sales of $8.16 billion, both below analyst expectations. The company announced a quarterly dividend of $0.4523 per share and lowered its full‑year adjusted EBITDA outlook to approximately $4.7 billion, citing $700 million of additional freight and energy costs. CEO Tony Smurfit said pricing initiatives will eventually offset the cost inflation but the impact will not be realized until 2027.

The miss and the reduced FY adjusted EBITDA guidance suggest lower profitability for the year, which may pressure the share price. The dividend remains unchanged at $0.4523 per share, providing a modest income stream despite the earnings shortfall.
