Alphabet reports Q3 2026 earnings miss as cloud revenue soars but capex drives cash loss

Alphabet posted Q3 2026 revenue of $127.6 billion, up 25% YoY, but earnings per share came in at $2.12, well below the $3.02 consensus. Google Cloud revenue jumped 103% to $30.7 billion, while capital expenditure rose to $51.4 billion, pushing free cash flow into the red. The results sent the stock down about 7% after hours.

The company warned that capex of $51.4 billion this quarter will keep free cash flow negative for the year, limiting its ability to return cash to shareholders (the company says). Analysts note that the earnings miss and cash burn could pressure the stock and valuation.
