Oracle to absorb $300 million of Point Beach nuclear plant costs for Wisconsin ratepayers

Oracle announced it will purchase 10–20% of the output of Wisconsin’s Point Beach Nuclear Plant, shifting about $300 million in fuel cost obligations from more than 1 million utility customers to the company. The power will supply Oracle’s new Project Lighthouse data center in Port Washington. The arrangement requires approval from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission before it can take effect.

If approved, the deal would reduce electricity bills for over 1 million Wisconsin ratepayers by moving $300 million of fuel costs onto Oracle, while supporting the data center’s energy needs. The company’s statement indicates the commitment is intended to protect customers and ensure reliable, carbon‑free power.
