Tilray gains INFARMED approval for in‑house cannabis quality testing in Portugal

Portugal’s medicines regulator, INFARMED, authorized Tilray Medical’s laboratory at its Cantanhede site to perform microbiological and chemical/physical analyses internally. The company said the permission will let it release products faster and cut expenses by avoiding external labs. President Rajnish Ohri highlighted the added speed, control and flexibility for the global supply chain.

Tilray expects the new testing capability to lower batch‑release costs and shorten the time from harvest to market, which could improve operating efficiency in its European operations. The change may also make the company more competitive in regulated markets such as Germany and the United Kingdom.
