Arcturus Therapeutics stresses importance of phased clinical trials in drug development

Arcturus Therapeutics (Nasdaq: ARCT) terminated its sa-mRNA vaccine partnership with CSL Seqirus via a settlement. Arcturus regained global rights to KOSTAIVE (ARCT-154) and other vaccine programs. CSL Seqirus will pay $12m cash, and Arcturus is released from about $16m in R&D credits, totaling about $28m. The deal unwinds a pact valued around $4.3b.

Arcturus Therapeutics (ARCT) shares rose 7.84% to $7.43 on Nasdaq after the company said it entered a strategic collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific to support Phase 3 development and potential commercialization of ARCT-032 for cystic fibrosis. Thermo Fisher will provide manufacturing, clinical research and commercialization support via its Accelerator platform, with exclusive commercial manufacturing rights if approved.

Arcturus Therapeutics said it selected Thermo Fisher Scientific to support Phase 3 development of ARCT-032, an inhaled mRNA therapy for cystic fibrosis. Thermo Fisher will provide Phase 3 manufacturing and clinical research services, with Phase 3 expected to run via Thermo Fisher’s PPD if Phase 2 is positive. A separate deal could grant exclusive commercial manufacturing rights if ARCT-032 is approved. Arcturus shares were up 12.19% to $7.73.

Arcturus Therapeutics (NASDAQ:ARCT) rose 5.8% premarket after announcing a collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE:TMO) for late-stage development and commercialization support of ARCT-032, an experimental mRNA cystic fibrosis treatment. Thermo Fisher will provide manufacturing and clinical research services; Arcturus expects to use Thermo Fisher’s clinical research business if mid-stage data are positive and grants exclusive commercial manufacturing rights if approved.

The Wall Street Journal reported Apple is testing memory chips from China’s CXMT across iPhones and MacBooks and has held early talks to supply components for some China-sold devices. Apple is seeking White House approval amid “unsustainable” pricing from SK Hynix, Samsung, Micron and SanDisk. US rules limit customization, but off-the-shelf purchases may be allowed.
