Gold price rebounds from sub-$4,000 dip as split Fed holds fire, silver jumps
Gold rebounded after the Fed held its 3.5% to 3.75% rate range, with the Comex August contract rising from about $3,993.80 to $4,080.80 by 2:15 p.m. Spot gold was $4,081.10. Silver also jumped. The Fed vote was 9-3, with three dissenters favoring a hike. Precious-metals equities moved higher; Allied Gold fell after a failed Zijin takeover.
