Blue Point One: Louisiana’s solution to America’s fertilizer problem
CF Industries is building a low-carbon blue ammonia plant in Louisiana, called Blue Point One, to boost domestic fertilizer supply. The plant, set to start production by 2029, will cover 6.7 million acres of cornfields and produce 1.2 billion bushels annually. The USDA supports the project to reduce reliance on imports. Environmental concerns have been raised, but CF Industries claims 95% of its CO2 waste will be captured and stored.
