Carlyle Expands Canadian Energy Footprint with Parallax Acquisition
The Carlyle Group (CG) is acquiring privately held Parallax Energy, valued at roughly C$1 billion, to expand its Canadian energy operations. Parallax produces 20,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and operates 300,000 acres in Alberta. This is Carlyle's second Canadian energy acquisition in a year, aiming to build a significant light-oil platform. Higher oil prices and improved market access may benefit the deal.
