Colombia Markets Closed for Boyacá; De La Espriella Takes Office
Colombia markets were closed Friday for the Battle of Boyacá holiday, leaving Thursday’s COLCAP close at 2,350.44 as the week’s final reading. The dollar ended at 3,180.94 pesos, down 15.31% YoY. The new president Abelardo De La Espriella took office and outlined a tax overhaul without a wealth tax, fracking authorization, a spending freeze, and central bank independence. Ecopetrol was cited as a priority.
