Madeleine Dean, Summer Lee and Chris Deluzio sent letters to GEO Group and ICE and DHS officials demanding reforms at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, citing alleged medical staffing shortages, delayed medical screenings, and detainee deaths. They also raised concerns about ICE acting director David Venturella’s prior ties to GEO and asked for contract and compensation records within 14 days.

GEO Group reported Q2 2026 earnings call updates. Management said contract wins normalized, adding about $520 million in annual revenue, and ICE populations at GEO facilities rose 20% after baseline appropriations were restored. Guidance was raised, capex expected below $100M in 2027, and GEO plans to shift toward selling facility real estate while keeping long-term operations.

New Jersey civil rights officials opened a probe into detainee treatment at Delaney Hall, a privately run ICE detention center in Newark operated by GEO Group, according to the state attorney general. The investigation follows the death of Edwin Lopez-Cornejo in custody after an ICE-described medical emergency and related family allegations of inadequate care.

Colorado health officials say they have been unable for six weeks to get GEO Group’s cooperation to investigate a confirmed tuberculosis case at an ICE detention facility in Aurora. Adams County says a public health order exists, but legal action may be stayed pending GEO’s federal lawsuit. ICE/CDC say treatment and contact strategies occurred, but local officials lack specifics.

GEO Group, which operates Colorado’s only immigration detention facility, sued Colorado over HB 26-1276, signed by Gov. Jared Polis, that takes effect Aug. 12. The law increases minimum health and safety inspections, requires GEO to pay, and allows civil liability for noncompliance. GEO seeks a preliminary injunction; a federal judge will decide later.

ICE is monitoring nearly 54,000 immigrants with GPS ankle monitors under its ISAP, up from about 17,000 a year earlier, while total ISAP enrollment stays around 184,000, according to Geo Group’s earnings call reported by The Guardian. Geo’s BI Inc. says ankle monitors cost over $2 per participant per day versus about $0.96 for its SmartLINK app, boosting revenue. A class action challenges the policy in federal court.

GAAP EPS was $0.36, 26.2% above consensus. Management cited ICE and US Marshals contract expansions, facility reactivations, ISAP-V monitoring tech shifts, and potential ICE asset sales.
