$REFR

RESEARCH FRONTIERS INC

Research Frontiers develops and licenses patented suspended particle device technology for electronically controlling the light, glare and heat passing through glazing. Its SPD-Smart technology uses particles in a film whose tint changes when electrical voltage is applied or removed. Licensees make or market the emulsion, film, laminated panels, control electronics and finished products, including windows, skylights and sunroofs. Applications include automotive, aerospace, architectural, marine, rail, recreational vehicle and specialty vehicle products, as well as displays. Research Frontiers operates in one business segment and does not directly manufacture finished glazing products. It makes money primarily from license fees and royalties paid by licensees. End-product licensees pay royalties of 10-15% of net sales of licensed products under agreements currently in effect; some may also pay fees and minimum annual royalties. Research Frontiers is headquartered in Woodbury, New York.
