Mayo Clinic tie-up aims to speed a one-time type 1 diabetes therapy
Sana Biotechnology and Mayo Clinic have announced a strategic collaboration to accelerate the development and delivery of SC451, Sana's investigational hypoimmune-modified pancreatic islet cell therapy for type 1 diabetes. Mayo Clinic will also make an equity investment in Sana, with an option for an additional investment, supporting a planned clinical trial start targeted for 2026. The partnership aims to standardize protocols, surgical techniques, trial design, and post-treatment care to enable broader and more consistent delivery of the therapy.
