Army Corps Terminates Shimmick From Chickamauga Dam Lock Chamber Contract
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers terminated Shimmick from a $309 million Chickamauga Dam lock chamber contract, alleging the contractor failed to prosecute work diligently, maintain the schedule and correct deficiencies. The contract required completion by Jan. 27, 2026. The Corps said the overall project costs about $954 million and targets an operational navigation lock in 2028. Shimmick disputes the termination and plans to appeal within 90 days.
