TotalEnergies Plans $10 Billion Argentina Energy Investment

TotalEnergies said during Argentina Week in Paris that it plans to commit about $10 billion to Argentine energy projects over 10 years, including shale gas, shale oil and offshore gas developments. The program covers Vaca Muerta, Tierra del Fuego and the Neuquén Basin, while Eni is advancing an Argentina LNG project with YPF and XRG. Eni expects to decide on proceeding before the end of 2026, with the project targeting 12 mtpa of LNG production in 2030 from two FLNG units.

The plan could expand TotalEnergies' Argentine oil and gas output and increase future export supply from Vaca Muerta. YPF stands to remain a partner in the associated Argentina LNG development, but the timing and scope of the projects remain subject to further decisions and implementation.
