Canadian Natural reports record Q3 production and accelerates $800 million monthly share buybacks

Canadian Natural Resources announced third‑quarter 2026 results showing production of about 1.65 million BOE per day, including a record 300,000 bbl/d from thermal in‑situ operations. The Horizon oil‑sands turnaround was completed in 28 days, seven days ahead of schedule, adding roughly 23,000 bbl/d of high‑margin synthetic crude in Q4. The company met its $13 billion net‑debt target, reduced net debt to $12.1 billion, and approved a quarterly dividend of $0.625 per share while committing to $800 million of share repurchases each month in November and December 2026.

The accelerated $800 million monthly buybacks and 100% free‑cash‑flow allocation to share repurchases increase cash returns to shareholders, while the lower net‑debt level improves balance‑sheet strength. The early Horizon turnaround lifts Q4 production, supporting higher cash flow and dividend sustainability.
