The Janus Five: 20+ Commercial Nuclear Microreactors, Starting in 2028
Five companies—BWXT, Radiant, General Atomics, Antares, and Westinghouse—will build over 20 nuclear microreactors at U.S. Army bases, with the first expected by 2028. The $2.2B Janus Program aims to establish commercial nuclear energy solutions, with each company targeting broader markets post-deployment. Projects range from 100 kWe to 20 MWe, and vendors will use milestone-based contracts.
