Calif. lawmakers seek tougher penalties after massive cold storage warehouse fire
California lawmakers Mark González and María Elena Durazo seek tougher penalties after a June 17 Boyle Heights cold-storage warehouse fire. They propose requiring new facilities to fund emergencies, increasing fines, and shifting certain costs. The warehouse is operated by Lineage, which faces public health and air-quality violations. Lineage said the cause is undetermined and cited $3.3 million committed to the community.
