A report by Public First says South Africa’s digital economy could rise from R495 billion to R874.5 billion by 2035. It estimates Meta’s platforms contribute R16.5 billion in annual economic value today, while AI could add R528 billion to GDP over the next decade. The report says 910,000 SMEs used Meta apps in 2025, adding R47.9 billion to GDP.
