New York Times' slower subscriber growth in busy news cycle sparks share selloff
Reuters reports The New York Times (NYT) said it added about 280,000 digital-only subscribers in Q2, below Visible Alpha’s 295,300 estimate and the prior quarter’s 310,000. Total subscribers were 13.35 million. Shares fell over 13%. NYT expects digital-only subscription revenue growth of 12% to 15% in Q3 and cited weaker Google search and referral traffic.
