Trump touts US$3 billion investment in minerals projects to counter China
Trump said the US will invest about $3 billion in critical minerals projects to reduce reliance on China, citing a $1.4 billion DoD loan to Sila Nanotechnologies for silicon battery anodes and lithium cells, $400 million to Sunrise Energy Metals for scandium production, and other funding for Niron Magnetics, Ivanhoe Electric, and graphite mining. Executives from Rio Tinto, BHP, MP Materials and others attended.
