Sentiment Heatmap — Week of August 10, 2026

AlphaAI classified 12,890 ticker-level sentiment reads across 10,397 news articles the week of August 10, 2026. Net tone held at 35% bullish, level with the series high set a week earlier, but the clean sweep did not repeat: cryptocurrency swung to minus 8%, the only sector in the red, as XRP fell below $1 after a bridge hack and bitcoin lost the $64,000 level. Energy took the top of the board at plus 53% on a $5 billion pipeline joint venture and a run of contract awards, and Trump Media turned in the most lopsided read of the week, 87 bearish and none bullish.

Nvidia's $500 billion push led an AI infrastructure sweep, and pipelines put Energy on top

Nvidia was the most covered name of the week at 341 ticker reads, 237 of them bullish, after it lined up a $500 billion AI infrastructure financing program with Wall Street firms. The names that sell the buildout followed it up the leaderboard. CoreWeave beat revenue estimates, raised its 2026 spending plan and jumped 17% on what coverage called an important inflection point, finishing 116 bullish reads to 2. Super Micro beat with surging margins and told analysts its $60 billion order book now includes emerging neoclouds, good for 110 reads to 3. Nebius reported AI cloud revenue up 454% and gained close to 30%. Sandisk rose about 15% after an investor day that set an 80% gross margin target for 2030, Micron picked up a Buy upgrade built around a possible $2 trillion valuation, and Lumentum's results confirmed the AI optical demand story. TSMC's July revenue grew 45%. The quietest large-cap winner was Reddit, 53 bullish reads and none bearish, on its addition to the S&P 500. Archer Aviation was the strangest bull case: it bought Boeing's drone business with stock, took over the planemaker's flying-taxi venture with Boeing keeping a stake of nearly 20%, and landed a $200 million defense business, while still guiding to a $200 million quarterly loss. Coverage overwhelmingly took the deal side, 76 bullish reads to 6.

Energy topped the sector board at net plus 53%, and little of it was about the oil price itself, even in a week when soaring crude fed inflation worries and equities traded on hopes of a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The reads were about infrastructure. Phillips 66 and Kinder Morgan won approval for their $5 billion, 1,300-mile Western Gateway pipeline joint venture, Kinder Morgan separately pushed $5.2 billion into Southeast gas capacity, Baker Hughes won a multi-year Kuwait Oil Company contract and a subsea award in Indonesia, and the Army Corps issued the final permit for Enbridge's Line 5 tunnel under the Great Lakes. Healthcare's plus 49% came from deals as much as drugs: Teledyne agreed to buy Varex Imaging for about $1.1 billion, sending the stock up more than 45% and producing a rare 31-to-0 bullish split, Curaleaf went hostile with a $270 million, 45%-premium bid for Aurora Cannabis, and the UK approved Eli Lilly's weight-loss pill, a first in Europe. Defense stayed bid too: coverage put a $58.6 billion Pentagon award and a $54 billion Patriot missile order at Lockheed Martin's door, and Rocket Lab posted record revenue alongside a $397 million Space Force contract, though a soft margin outlook drew a bearish tail of 17 reads against its 47 bullish.

Crypto broke the streak, and Trump Media logged an 87-to-0 bearish split

Cryptocurrency finished net minus 8%, the only sector in the red a week after every one of the twelve closed positive. An exploit did much of the damage: XRP fell below $1 after a bridge hack drained 200,000 tokens in 97 minutes, drawing 18 bearish reads against 4 bullish. Bitcoin slipped below $64,000 as the Hormuz trade faded, and Strategy, the largest corporate holder, read 5 bullish to 25 bearish: its $2.5 billion purchase early in the week, the year's biggest, was outrun by reports of coin sales and by MSCI weighing the company's removal from its indexes, with coverage putting $2 billion of index-linked money on the line. Bitcoin miners fell in sympathy, with one exception that says a lot about this tape: Riot Platforms signed a $9.1 billion data-center deal with Anthropic and finished 45 bullish reads to 2, one of the cleanest reads of the week, and it sits under financials rather than crypto in the sector table. Goldman Sachs made a similar rotation in one transaction, buying ETF manager NEOS, bitcoin and ether funds included, for $2.25 billion.

Trump Media was the most one-sided name in either direction: 87 bearish reads and not one bullish, after reporting a $238 million quarterly loss on $1.7 million of revenue, deepened by the slide in its bitcoin holdings. That number did most of the work of holding Communication Services at plus 8%, the weakest positive sector, where Nebius and Reddit supplied the bullish side while Meta and Roblox joined Trump Media on the other. Meta logged its second straight net-bearish week, 39 bullish reads to 53: courts kept the child-safety pressure on, led by a New Mexico judgment of nearly $1 billion, while the bullish reads clustered around its decision to open the weights of a new AI model. Roblox went 0 for 14 as Ohio's attorney general moved to lead a class action and a Senate investigation into child safety widened. That mix is also why regulation was the most bearish news category of the week at minus 18%, with crypto at minus 20% the only other one in the red.

Much of the rest of the bearish table was companies whose numbers were fine. Cisco beat on every line it reports and still fell, with coverage citing what AI costs to ship; it finished 29 bullish to 51 bearish. Cerebras raised its annual targets and still tumbled 14% on a quarterly miss and a swing to a loss. Intel completed a $20 billion share sale, its first since 1971 and upsized from a planned $15 billion, and drew 52 bearish reads on the dilution even as its CEO put $12 million of his own money into the raise. Apple's 26-to-59 split ran through the same memory market that fed the bulls: it was downgraded on soaring memory costs testing iPhone pricing power, alongside reports it may scrap the all-glass iPhone. The two consumer names were more traditional trouble. Tyson will close or sell three US beef plants into a cattle shortage, a 1-to-34 read, and Diageo drew Indian seizures of nearly 18,000 boxes of whisky and vodka over safety markings, a challenged rum ban, and a 35% sales drop in Greater China.

Covers every enriched news article published between August 10 and August 16, 2026 that AlphaAI scored at relevance 6 or higher, the same floor used for the per-stock sentiment strips on the site, excluding SEC Form 4 insider filings, whose templated text is almost always neutral. For each article, AlphaAI assigns a sentiment of positive, neutral or negative to every company it identifies, and only tickers that pass enricher validation are counted. A 'ticker read' is one such per-ticker label, so an article naming five companies contributes up to five reads and a market-wide macro story is counted once for each ticker it tags. Net tone is bullish reads minus bearish reads as a share of all reads for that group. Sectors come from each company's classification, which 98.7% of reads carry, and a sector needs at least 15 reads in the window to appear on the chart. Crypto assets such as bitcoin and XRP sit in the Cryptocurrency sector, while crypto-adjacent equities such as miners and exchanges are classified under their own equity sectors, mostly financials. Companies with more than one listed share class or venue are counted per listing. One caveat on the totals: weekly article volume moves with both the news cycle and our collector coverage, so compare the percentages across issues, not the raw volumes. This is a filtered readout of public news coverage, not investment advice or a measure of price performance.
