'Money Out of Politics' proposal survives legal challenge
A Michigan ballot proposal to ban corporate political contributions from DTE and Consumers Energy, and others with large government contracts, survived a legal challenge and will proceed to a Nov. 3 vote. The measure aims to curb corporate influence in politics. Business groups opposed the proposal, but the Michigan Supreme Court declined to overturn its certification. If passed, the measure would require a three-fourths legislative vote for future amendments.
