Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX) announced an open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for its Nutanix Cloud Platform. The MCP server lets AI tools connect to the Prism v4 API to automate enterprise cloud operations in hybrid multicloud setups while enforcing existing security, RBAC, throttling, auditing, and human oversight. It is available for download from developers.nutanix.com.

Broadcom (AVGO) expanded VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) security by upgrading vDefend and Avi Load Balancer, including an AI-automated vDefend 1-2-3 ATP deployment framework, on-prem malware sandboxing, and native API protection. Broadcom said the setup can cut deployment time from months to weeks and reduce hardware by up to 33%. The update targets competition from Nutanix (NTNX) and IBM.

University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) replaced its incumbent hypervisor software, migrating about 800 virtual machines for roughly 100 applications to Nutanix AHV on Lenovo hardware. UniSQ plans to expand Nutanix use with NDB and Nutanix Cloud Platform micro-segmentation later in 2025. The switch followed a late-2024 review ahead of an April 2025 renewal, using Nutanix Move for cross-hypervisor migration.

Nutanix said in an SEC filing it will cut about 5% of its global workforce after reviewing its organizational structure. The company expects to substantially complete the reduction by end of October 2026 and estimates pre-tax charges of about US$33 million to US$43 million, mainly severance. It plans to reallocate resources toward AI, NKP, infrastructure modernization, and sales.

Dell said its PowerStore all-flash NVMe storage is now available in the Nutanix Cloud Platform for APJ, supported with Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure 7.6 and managed via Prism. The integration supports provisioning, snapshots, clones and VHD expansion. Dell also paired it with Dell Private Cloud and PowerProtect Data Manager for backup and retention.

Dell says its PowerStore file and block storage arrays are now supported for the Nutanix Cloud Platform, specifically Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) 7.6. Dell claims PowerStore provides a broad infrastructure portfolio for Nutanix environments, with Prism integration and features including 6:1 data reduction and replication options. Dell and Nutanix cite prior integrations like PowerFlex.

Dell Technologies announced PowerStore storage support for Nutanix Cloud Platform 7.6, deployed and managed via Dell Private Cloud, aiming to offer an alternative to VMware by Broadcom amid reported VMware license price increases. Partners cited Dell’s PowerStore growth, a 20,000-customer installed base, and PowerStore Elite shipping July 22.

Nutanix said Dell Private Cloud now supports the latest Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) on Dell PowerStore.
