Sweetgreen (NYSE:SG) will open its fourth drive-up “sweetlane” location on Wednesday at Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean, Virginia, per a company press release. The site will offer app or web ordering with drive-up pickup plus dine-in and in-store pickup, operating 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Sweetgreen (SG) reported Q2 2026 revenue of $192.7M, up 4% YoY, driven by 36 net new restaurant openings. Same-store sales fell 6.2%. Restaurant-level margin was 13.1% and adjusted EBITDA was a $0.2M loss. FY2026 guidance was revised for cyclospora impacts, with comparable sales expected to decline 7% to 8% and restaurant margin 10.5% to 11.0%.

After a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report showed wholesale food inflation cooling, several restaurant stocks rose. The July Producer Price Index for final demand was unchanged, while processed foods and feeds fell 0.5%. Portillo’s (PTLO) gained 8.8%, Wingstop (WING) rose 3%, Papa John’s (PZZA) rose 3%, and Sweetgreen (SG) rose 3%.

Sweetgreen says it is not linked to the ongoing cyclospora outbreak, which the CDC says has caused 10,000+ confirmed cases in 47 states since May. The company cut its full-year outlook after Q2 results on Aug. 6, citing weaker foot traffic and sales. Sweetgreen stock fell about 30% over the prior month, as of Wednesday close.

The FDA-linked 2026 cyclospora outbreak was traced to shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico, according to health officials. Yum! Brands (YUM) reported Taco Bell same-store sales down 2% quarter-to-date through July 27 and shares fell about 5% then steadied; management said sales were “halfway back” to prior-year levels. Wendy’s reported same-store sales down 7% and system sales down 8.2% last quarter, with restaurant traffic down 12.5%, citing reduced discounting and shorter breakfast hours. Burger King gained share. El Pollo Loco said Loco Tenders are strong enough to test permanent placement, with same-store sales up 3.9%. Sweetgreen’s same-store sales were down 6.2% amid a Cyclospora outbreak, and it downgraded its outlook.
