Insider Radar — Week of September 7, 2026

Reported insider buying was $466.5 million in the week of September 7 and selling was $2.20 billion, a ratio of 4.7 to 1 against a median of 13.0 over the preceding twenty-six weeks. Almost two thirds of the buying is one holder, Cascade Investment, in its fourth consecutive week of adding to Republic Services. Strip that one program out and the week sits at 12.4 to 1, which is the norm. The selling was mostly private equity leaving three companies it took public, and a third of the rest was scheduled months ago.

Buying was $466.5 million and one holder was 62% of it

Reported buying came to $466.5M across 265 events, down 12% from $530.9M the week before. Cascade Investment, the holding company of Bill Gates and a long standing 10% owner of Republic Services (RSG), accounts for $288.9M of it. Cascade bought 1,301,614 shares on four consecutive sessions from September 8 to September 11 at prices from $220.37 to $224.11. This is the fourth week in a row it has led the buy side: $216.0M, $306.1M, $350.6M and now $288.9M, which is $1.16B and 5,240,588 shares since August 17. A holder of that size averaging into a position it has held for years is consolidation. It is worth watching at this pace, and it is not a fresh directional bet by someone who runs the company.

The second bar on the chart is not a purchase in the ordinary sense either. Flotek Industries (FTK) director Matthew Wilks bought 1,319,493 shares for $34.3M on September 11 at a flat $26.01, and on the same day ProFrac GDM sold 2,306,806 Flotek shares at the same flat $26.01. Wilks is part of the family that controls ProFrac, so this is stock moving between related holders at an agreed price, not an open market vote on Flotek. It is reported on both sides of this week's totals because both filings are real, and it belongs in neither the conviction column nor the pressure column.

Two more entity positions take most of what is left. GoldenTree Asset Management bought $26.0M of QVC Group (QVCG) at a flat $16.25 on September 8, the same day Silver Point Capital sold exactly $26.0M of the same stock at the same price, so that is a block changing hands between two funds. Conifer Management added $23.7M of Group 1 Automotive (GPI) over two days at $279.38 to $286.33, having bought $48.9M of it the week before. Nippon Life bought $16.5M of Corebridge Financial (CRBD) across three days at $33.78 to $34.61, which continues a strategic stake rather than opening one.

Strip out the entities and officers and directors bought $105.5M across 207 events. Take out the Flotek cross and genuine individual buying was $71.2M, or 15% of the week. That share has sat between 10% and 20% for most of the summer, so the shape is normal even in a week this light.

The cleanest signal was GameStop (GME), where four insiders bought in three days. Chairman and chief executive Ryan Cohen bought 1,000,000 shares for $20.4M on September 10 at $20.3759, director Lawrence Cheng bought 55,000 shares for $1.0M on September 8 at $18.7992, and two more insiders added smaller amounts, $21.7M in total. Uber (UBER) chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi bought 141,000 shares for $10.0M on September 10 at a flat $70.96. Those two are the week's only eight-figure purchases by people who run the business. Below them, Alumis (ALMS) director Srinivas Akkaraju bought $5.8M at $10.63 on September 8, his second purchase in a week, after the stock fell on a failed lupus trial at the end of August.

The selling was sponsors leaving, and a third of the rest was scheduled

Insiders and large holders disposed of $2.20B across 776 events, down 31% from $3.20B the week before. Against buying that is 4.7 to 1, well under the 13.0 median of the twenty-six preceding weeks, which ranged from 0.9 to 42.2. It is the third consecutive week below that median, and in all three the ratio is held down by entity buying rather than by executives stepping in. Without Cascade the week reads 12.4 to 1.

The top of the sell side is private equity exiting, not management losing faith. Platinum Equity sold 13,125,000 shares of Ingram Micro (INGM) in one block at a flat $27.19 on September 10, $356.8M, the largest single event of the week. TPG sold 18,409,705 shares of LifeStance Health (LFST) at a flat $12.29 on September 11, $226.3M. Hagerty Holding Corp sold $122.0M of Hagerty (HGTY) at a flat $11.47 over two filings. All three are sponsors distributing stock in companies they brought public, priced as blocks rather than worked into the market.

Dell (DELL) was the busiest name of the week with 20 sale events. Five Silver Lake vehicles sold $254.0M of Class C common between September 8 and September 11 at $516.27 to $567.45, none of it under a plan, and two Dell officers sold a further $24.4M. Silver Lake sold $300.2M of Dell the week before this one and has been distributing the position since June. What is different here is the price: Dell traded near $555 as this issue was written, against a 52-week low of $110, so the sponsor is selling into the top of a move rather than out of a broken stock.

Scheduled 10b5-1 plans accounted for $743.1M, or 34% of the selling, up from 29% the week before. The largest were AMD (AMD) chair and chief executive Lisa Su at $48.2M, Seagate (STX) finance chief Gianluca Romano at $42.0M, Venture Global (VG) general counsel Keith Larson at $35.7M, CoreWeave (CRWV) chief executive Michael Intrator at $30.8M and both Hinge Health (HNGE) founders at $22.4M and $22.2M on consecutive days. Prices in that group look extreme and they are real: Seagate filed sales at $819.39 to $868.43 and the stock has since traded at $779 against a 52-week low of $205, and AMD filed at $503.72 to $515.55.

Unplanned individual selling was thin. Chime Financial (CHYM) drew the most of it, $19.2M from Shawn Carolan and $11.6M from James Feuille at $32.89 to $33.21, alongside $9.0M from DST Global. Control Empresarial de Capitales sold $36.9M of PBF Energy (PBF) over three days at $77.23 to $80.60, and Elastic (ESTC) chief technology officer Shay Banon sold $14.0M, continuing the program he ran the week before.

Source data is public SEC Form 4 filings collected by AlphAI, covering transactions dated September 7 through September 13, 2026, 943 filings in total. Transactions are grouped into events by filing, issuer and ownership form, so a sale executed in many tranches under one filing counts once rather than inflating the count. Purchases are P-code transactions, disposals are S and D codes. Event groups summing above $1 billion are excluded, because at that size the row is almost always a merger, tender or reorganisation rather than a discretionary trade, and no event reached that cap this week. Where several related filers report the same block, only one copy is counted: filings are collapsed when the ticker, date, transaction code, security title, share count and value all match, keeping the direct holder's filing where there is one. That correction removed $43.1 million across thirty groups, $41.3 million of it on the sell side, the largest being Workers United and its Western States joint board reporting the same Amalgamated Financial sales on three separate days ($17.1 million), three affiliated filers on one OrthoPediatrics block ($12.7 million) and two DST Global entities on Chime ($9.0 million). Prior weeks are restated on the same basis, so the $530.9 million of buying and $3.20 billion of selling shown here for the week of August 31 differ slightly from that issue's figures as late filings landed. Where a purchase and a sale of the same size and price appear on the same day between related holders, both are reported and named rather than netted out: this week that is the Flotek cross between director Matthew Wilks and ProFrac GDM at $26.01, and the QVC Group block between GoldenTree and Silver Point at $16.25. Activity filed under 10b5-1 plans is split out, because those trades are scheduled months ahead and say nothing about what a seller thinks now. Roles come from the officer, director and 10 percent holder flags on the filing itself, and titles are used only where the filing supplies one, which is why some sellers appear as reporting insiders rather than by office. Values are shares multiplied by the reported price with no currency normalisation, and the largest prices in the report were checked against live quotes before publication, including Dell, Seagate and AMD. Labor Day fell on Monday September 7, which is why that day carries 32 filings against 237 to 295 on the rest of the week, and the two-business-day deadline for Friday September 11 transactions closed on Tuesday September 15, before this window was pulled on September 16. The recent median sell to buy ratio covers the twenty-six preceding weeks that each had more than $10 million of reported buying, and those weeks ranged from 0.9 to 42.2, so a single week's ratio should be read against that spread rather than on its own. Filing coverage matured over the first half of 2026, so week to week comparisons are more reliable than comparisons with the spring. This is a readout of public filings and not investment advice.
